The Groom's Leather Shoes

Yesterday hubby and I went to St.Michael's Parish in Pasig to get his baptismal certificate. After surviving terrible traffic we arrived there welcomed with bad news! We are so disappointed because they told us they do not release baptismal certificates during weekends! I felt we had rights to be pissed off because we called the office a week ago, asked them information about the releasing of baptismal certificates, if they are open on Saturdays, even what time they open/close the office. I also asked them about how much the certificate was and what identifications to bring. I was asking everything about baptismal certificates! Yet they did not say they only release them on weekdays! Grrrrrrr!

Lesson learned, asked if the church's registrar is OPEN on weekends and if they RELEASE certificates on weekends too. Good thing my hubby was there to cool me down. Well I calmed down but told him we have to make this day productive. Sayang ang pamasahe and weekend if we do not accomplish anything for the wedding! Right? So I asked him to go to Makati to look for his suit and shoes.

Off we go!

We searched Glorietta, Landmark and even SM yet we were still unsuccessful in finding THE SUIT! But then, few hours later we found THE shoes Vic loved. It was on sale, 50% off to be exact and it is pure leather! It was lace up as what he wanted and it so fit our budget. So happy for him and so inggit!

I was loving the suit but Vic doesn't feel this was the one..

The groom's Leather Shoes!
Next time hope we can find THE shoes for the picky bride and THE suit for the choosy H2B!!

Pamamanhikan

Vic's Pamamanhikan was a success! Good food, cool folks, funny chitchat, few alcohol and planning was the key. Haaaaay, I'm just so happy we are done with it and I feel we've done it with flying colors!

Vic has little idea what to do in a "Pamamanhikan". Being the only boy in the family and of course marrying for the first time are reasons why. I on the other hand, having two younger sisters marrying before me already has an idea what to do.

What do we knew about it;
  • The soon to be groom and his family must bring the food to the girl's home.
  • Wedding date should be discussed and a moon calendar should be at hand. Because the elders wants to make sure that the date is not a "new moon" (for reasons I don't know)
  • Sweets and malagkit or sticky rice cakes should be part of the food selection. I think this is to represent the sweetness and sticking together of two families.
  • Who will shoulder the expenses of the wedding should be discussed
  • The location for the reception and the church should also be discussed.
  • Choices for the entourage, specially the principal sponsors (Ninong and Ninangs) should also be mentioned.
  • Plans of the couple after the wedding should also be discussed.
Pamamanhikan our way!

What we did?

  • Vic and I was the one who set the date for the pamamanhikan, we just asked both of our families if the date was OK. We already took the lead in the discussion because we are the one who will shoulder the expenses for wedding. Also we are blessed with cool parents that let us do what we want! They just trust us too much! Yipee!
  • Vic's family was from La union. It will be too much hassle if they bring food from province or too expensive if they take out food from restaurants before going to our place. My parents knows how to cook very well so what Vic did was to shoulder all expenses for the dishes prepared.
  • We already booked the Church and the reception venue before the pamamanhikan, and we made sure that the date we chose doesn't fall on a "new moon" we also made sure that the date is an auspicious date for a wedding. We did this to avoid the elders opposing on the date we want. It's better to be prepared right?
  • I even printed out information sheet about our wedding. We gave them copies so they will have a guide during our discussion. It was very helpful because they can easily go back to bullets and give more suggestions. It was too modern I know! Hahahaha!
  • I asked Vic to take out "sapin-sapin" on their way to our home for tradition. I told him this will represent not only a sweetness and togetherness of the family but a colorful life with each other as well. Heheheheh!
Vic and I discussing wedding details.

Our elders listening to our plans. See the information sheets on their hands?

All is set! Picture! Picture!

This is a tradition OK???

Little alcohol for the big boys!

When I first met Joel Escober!

I finally met him! Yes, HIM! The person who will make me feel like a supermodel on my wedding day! Hehehehe! Yep not a princes, but a SUUUUUUUUUUPER MODEL! Yeiy!

After the long wait and painstaking cost/budget analysis I finally made my decision and went to Joel Escober. My sisters in W@W are right when they said he is so nice to talk to! Coz he is! Very humble and accommodating. Right after entering his home office and a few chitchat, he asked me to bring out pegs.  I love that he listens to what you want and incorporates it to his design. He keeps on calling me "Ma'am" and I asked him to just call me Aimee but he did'nt. I dunno, it just doesn't feel right! Here I am standing in front of Joel Escober and he is calling me "Ma'am" hihihihi! I was kinda "dyahe". To continue, Joel gave me the Pros and Cons of the design I have in mind and that enlightened me big time! He sketched me two gowns and the second one was the one I fell in love with. I was happy that we both like ecru so we decided to have the gown in that color. While taking my measurements he tells story and asks info's about my wedding, chika talaga! He even gave me some tips on how to interact with suppliers to get great services!

I cant wait for the first fitting! I hope to loose weight an be sexier so I can give his creation justice. Hehehehe!

Here are some photos of our first meeting! Yeiy!

Mr. Joel Escober while taking my measurements.

BRASO! How can I make you small??

There I go with my hand gestures while having a conversation with Mr.Joel. He's  nice!

Can you see how the gown looks like? Hahaha! I'm keeping it as a secret!

Haaaaay... It feels nice to have great service. Talent + Charm + Kindness is the perfect mix! Yahoooo!
